Kingfisher Farm Market in Surrey, BC is seeking a Farm Worker!

ABOUT Kingfisher Farm Market

We are a small farm in South Surrey BC sustainably growing vegetables and flowers. We run a weekly on-site farm market, do roadside sales as well as farmer’s boxes and restaurant sales. We cultivate about an acre of vegetables. We have a small crew of about 7 of us at the height of the season. The successful applicant for this position would be involved in a huge variety of aspects of vegetable production.

We have been growing on this plot of land for 20 years using sustainably methods. We are committed to regenerative and no-till methods of growing and employ tarping, cover-cropping, hand weeding and mulching as ways of maintaining soil health and managing weeds.
We value selling direct to customer and have cultivated a strong and vibrant market community where we can share our passion for eating seasonally and caring for the land.

  • Able to stick with repetitive tasks, looking for ways to improve efficiency as competency is gained

  • Attention to detail and maintaining quality standards
  • Ability to increase pace of skills as the season goes

POSITION TASKS

  • Field tasks of weeding, planting, harvesting
  • Farm tasks of washing harvest bins, clean up from previous market day
  • Engagement with market customers about vegetables and seasonal eating
  • General farm tasks as needed

POSITION DETAILS

Term: Start date mid/late April
End date: End of August (with possibility of extending)
Hours per week: 40 hrs
Wage: $19/hr
