Young Agrarians tools for accessing resources, training, community, and farming!
APPRENTICESHIPS – The Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program, created in partnership with Organic Alberta, is an annual immersion training program in regenerative agriculture. Annual application intake is February each year. We also post Apprenticeship opportunities offered by farms that do not fall under our facilitated Apprenticeship Program. BUSINESS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM & RESOURCES – YA offers an annual B.C. Business Mentorship Program pairing up new farmers with 35-40 hours of mentorship and education with established farm business operators to develop business skills. Annual application intake is October each year. Check our the Business page and blog to find resources and tools for your farm business.
EVENTS – Year round YA coordinates on-farm and off-farm educational events to network, build community, and learn together.
FARM CLUBS – Check out this great guide created by YA Alberta for creating meet-up spaces in your area to share knowledge and jam with other farmers.
LAND ACCESS – Young Agrarians delivers the B.C. Land Matching Program, which offers hands-on, land matching and technical assistance support to pair up farmers ready to start businesses with landowners. Intake is year round. YA has developed a B.C. and Ontario Land Access Guide as a start-up primer for new farmers wanting to get onto land and Lease and License templates to help land owners and farmers negotiate agreements. YA hosts Land Linking workshops in the fall and winter months to bring together land owners and land seekers.
U-MAP – A national interactive Resource Map focused on centralizing information from farms, to land, suppliers and more- for new and existing farmers in the ecological and certified organic sector.
