PROGRAMS

Young Agrarians programs work to grow new and young farmers and connect them to networks on the ground. Learn how to farm through on-farm training apprenticeships in regenerative agriculture, access land through resource tools and land matching, business mentorships, e-learning courses, and on and off-farm educational events!

APPRENTICESHIPS – The Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) runs across Western Canada and is an annual immersion training program in regenerative agriculture. Program application intake for apprentices begins in December each year.

ALBERTA LAND ACCESS – Farmers and landholders in Alberta can list their land needs or opportunities, find land access resources, and connect with the Young Agrarians Alberta team.

B.C. LAND MATCHING PROGRAM – Young Agrarians delivers the B.C. Land Matching Program, which offers hands-on, land matching and technical assistance support to pair up farmers ready to start businesses with landowners. Intake is year round.

BUSINESS MENTORSHIP NETWORK – YA offers business mentorships across Western Canada that pair up new farmers with 35-40 hours of mentorship and education with established farm business operators to develop business skills. Annual application intake is October each year.

E-LEARNING – Young Agrarians offers courses on-line to help support learners across Canada to connect to each other, the ‘farm curious’, and those farming for peer-learning.  The Business Bootcamp is an eleven-week program packed full of content and activities that will guide you through writing your farm business plan. The How to Start Farming Course brings together a learning community to explore farming fundamentals, and learn ways to get more involved with farming.

EVENTS – Year round, across Canada, YA coordinates on-farm and off-farm educational events to network, build community, and learn together.
