Treaty Land Sharing Network Launches in the Alberta Side of Treaty Six

On Saturday July 6th the Treaty Land Sharing Network (TLSN) officially expanded into the western half of Treaty Six territory — also known as central Alberta. Eighty people gathered on Brenda Bohmer’s beautiful 640 acre farm near Bawlf to welcome the TLSN into this region. The TLSN is a grassroots group of farmers, ranchers, and other landholders who have come together to begin the crucial work of honouring Treaties. Meet your future farmers! The latest cohort of the Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program has landed on their host farms in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The apprentices in each province recently got together for orientation weekend to get acquainted and connect over their shared passion for nature and regenerative agriculture. Their time together involved sharing farm-sourced meals, farm chores (like milking a goat!), hikes, bonfires, and guided city tours with local businesses that are food grower advocates. Young Agrarians is celebrating the tenth year of the Business Mentorship Network (BMN) program in BC and the second year of the program in the Prairies! If you are a new farmer or the next generation to take on your family farm and need support to figure out the business aspects of your farm consider applying for the 2024/2025 cohort. The BMN offers business mentorships to a diverse array of new and young farmers/ranchers/producers.
