EVENT RECAP: Land Social at Pure Pastures Regenerative Farm – Rose Prairie, BC

It was a windy afternoon but the rain held off until later evening at Pure Pastures Regenerative Farm (PPRF) where we hosted our first Land Social for the Central North region this past Saturday, July 9! PPRF is located Northeast of Rose Prairie (North of Fort St John) and is an available land opportunity with the BC Land Matching Program. The landowners implement regenerative agriculture practices on their ranch –  running cattle on 10,000 acres and also raising a variety of small livestock, a beautiful market garden and are developing a farm coop. EVENT RECAP: Wildwood Farm Land Social – Dawson Creek, BC

Wildwood Farm located just outside of Pouce Coupe has been Tim and Linda’s home for nearly 50 years! Draft horses are used in farm work where ever possible from garden and field tillage to milling their own grain. Beef cattle, milk cows, hogs, and laying hens are all raised here and make this farm so special. They are planning the next steps for the farm with developing a non-family farm transition and succession plan. On Wednesday August 25, the Kersley Farmers Institute welcomed 44 people to enjoy a day full of farm tours at three host farms, Dunlevy Ranch, Rocky Point Ranch, and North Star Farm House. Over the course of the day, we saw diverse farming ventures and agribusinesses, networked, and shared ideas about farming in the North Cariboo. With extreme annual weather changes in the province of BC, farmers and ranchers are looking for ways to grow feed for cattle in diverse ways and trying to adapt to the ever challenging weather conditions.
