Young Agrarians programs work to grow new and young farmers and connect them to networks on the ground. Learn how to farm through on-farm training apprenticeships in regenerative agriculture, access land through resource tools and land matching, business mentorships, e-learning courses, and on and off-farm educational events!
The Young Agrarians Apprenticeship Program (YAAP) runs across Western Canada and is an annual immersion training program in regenerative agriculture. Program application intake is year round. Program placements take place Spring annually.
YA offers business mentorships across Western Canada that pair up new farmers with 35-40 hours of mentorship and education with established farm business operators to develop business skills. Application intake is year round. The program begins annually in December.
Young Agrarians delivers the B.C. Land Matching Program, which offers hands-on, land matching and technical assistance support to pair up farmers ready to start businesses with landowners. Intake is year round.
Young Agrarians offers courses on-line to support learners from across Canada. From Business Bootcamps to How to Start Farming, check out our e-learning options.
Year round, across Canada, YA coordinates on-farm and off-farm educational events to network, build community, and learn together.
New farmers face significant challenges accessing land and capital. YA advocates for policies and programs to support new and equity-seeking farmers towards farm renewal in Canada. Check out YA’s advocacy resources here!
