Cedar Grove School/Edwin County Farms in Picton, ON is seeking a Assistant Teacher!
Edwin County Farms is a 700-acre family-owned and operated farm dedicated to providing a wholesome selection of premium, organic offerings: certified organic grass-fed cattle, certified organic maple syrup and grains, artisanal chickens, organically-grown produce, and vibrant cut-flowers. We sell weekly at the farmer’s market and to local restaurants, as well as farm gate.
Our school is nestled in a red cedar grove on our farm: Cedar Grove School is a small, nature-based, non-profit K-5 school (intending to grow to K-Grade 8 over time) located on an organic farm and forest setting. Our program is rooted in relationship, rhythm, and meaningful engagement with the land. The natural setting is not separate from learning – but rather integral to it.
As we continue to grow, we are refining a collaborative, multi-age teaching model designed to be sustainable for educators and engaging for students. This work builds on our experience over the past several years, strengthening what is working while bringing greater clarity and consistency to the program.
We are seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher to support our multi-age classrooms (Kindergarten through Grade 5).
This is a central, steadying role within our school. The Assistant Teacher provides continuity across the week, supports both Kinder and Grade School groups, and helps bring cohesion to our shared teaching model.
Edwin County Farms’ aim is to contribute to the improved health of the planet, land regeneration, and human health by being responsible stewards of the land and growing food, and raising animals with sustainable, ethical, and health-giving ways. Focusing on supplying our families, the local communities, and the best restaurants in the Bay of Quinte with nutritious farm-grown food while regenerating the land we care for. Our beef, maple syrup and grains are certified organic while our market garden produce is organically-grown.
Cedar Grove School is dedicated to providing holistic, nature-based education rooted in Waldorf traditions. Our commitment lies in nurturing the full spectrum of human development – head, heart, and hands – through imaginative, experiential, and relationship-rich learning. We blend academics with creativity, movement, and a strong connection to nature, fostering curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
