Ferme des Pins 1919 Inc. in Saint-Philémon, Québec, is seeking a Dairy and Maple Syrup Farm Intern!
Our family farm is an agricultural enterprise located in the Appalachian region, specializing in dairy and organic maple syrup production, with deep community roots and a strong respect for traditional Quebec farming practices.
We milk about forty cows manually in a milking parlour equipped with automated milking machines. Cows will be equipped with electronic collars, allowing them to graze year-round. This is a new project that will be implemented starting in May 2026.
On the maple syrup side, we manage an 8,500-tap, certified organic sugarbush located in the mountains. We use modern equipment and a wood-fired evaporator to process the sap — a method we believe gives the syrup an authentic and unique flavor. The syrup is sold in bulk (by the barrel). We also play a key role in our local community by acting as a collection point for regional maple producers, helping streamline logistics for several neighboring farms.
Our farm includes pastures, crop fields for animal feed, functional farm buildings, and a mountain sugarbush. It is a peaceful setting, surrounded by nature and rivers, offering full immersion into the agricultural way of life in Quebec. Soil health is one of our major concerns, and we promote regenerative agricultural practices.
We use standard farming equipment (tractors, hay baler, mixer, etc.) for crop management and feeding the animals, but our approach is first and foremost based on human labor, family collaboration, and the transmission of agricultural knowledge.
Finally, we manage two touristic rental houses located on the property. This agrotourism aspect allows visitors to experience farm life in an authentic way and connect directly with the agricultural lifestyle.
We believe in small-scale, human-centered farming, deeply rooted in the land, respect for all living beings, and the transmission of knowledge. As a fourth-generation family farm, we embody a sustainable and familial vision of agriculture. We prioritize regenerative practices, particularly by nurturing our soils to preserve their vitality over the long term. Our sugarbush is certified organic, and we apply daily practices that reflect a deep commitment to animal welfare, providing our cows with a clean, calm environment tailored to their natural needs. Rather than pursuing constant growth, we choose to cultivate quality, resilience, and a strong connection to nature. For us, being farmers also means taking the time to live, to observe, and to pass on our know-how to future generations.
We are looking for an intern who is curious, committed, and open to learning in a real-world farming context.
As a small family-run team, we value individuals who enjoy physical work, are versatile, show initiative, and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! A respectful attitude — toward both people and animals — is essential. We value meaningful exchanges, careful observation, and a genuine desire to understand the richness of agricultural life — in both its intense and peaceful moments. No prior experience is required, but a true interest in farming is key.

Term: We are preferably looking for a long-term intern but will consider applicants who are available for a minimum of six months. Permanent positions are always available.
Hours per week: 35-40 hours
Wage: We offer a starting wage of $19/hour, and housing is included.
Please send resume to v.poulin@outlook.com. A cover letter is always nice but not necessary.
