The Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty & UBC Centre for Sustainable Food Systems in Vancouver, BC are seeking a full-time Just Transition Coordinator!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION The Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty (WGIFS) was founded in 2006 out of a recognized need to carry Indigenous voice and vision in food systems research, action, and policy. The WGIFS has since become an internationally recognized grassroots organization consisting of Indigenous knowledge holders, scholars, researchers, and practitioners at a translocal scale. We aim to address the systemic issues underlying food insecurity in Indigenous Nations/communities, and we advocate for systems transformation and Indigenous food sovereignty through the re-conceptualization of frameworks for foodland conservation and food security within a more holistic, regenerative life-giving paradigm. This year’s Wild Salmon Caravan will be following the Sockeye up the Fraser River to Adams Lake in Secwepemc (Shushwap) territory and will be kicked off with a colorful Vancouver Parade up Commercial Drive. Oct 4: Left Field Farms + Crannog Ales – Sockeye Beer Release Party!

Please join Left Fields Farm and Crannóg Ales to celebrate our newest seasonal ale, Spawning Sockeye Ale. It features our own wild hops, named “Sockeye”, in an american amber style ale. The PARTY is Saturday October 4, from 2-5 pm at the brewery. We’ll have music, food and information on salmon and the Adams River Sockeye run which is just beginning.
