Young Agrarians is celebrating the ninth year of the Business Mentorship Network (BMN) program. The BMN offers business mentorships  to a diverse array of new and young farmers across BC. Through one-on-one mentorship, peer networks and online workshops young farmers develop the skills necessary to operate ecologically sustainable and financially viable farm businesses. Thanks to the farms and friends who hosted and the generous support of Columbia Basin Trust, Young Agrarians was able to organize seven different on-farm and educational events across the region in 2019 and early 2020. We learned about tools, seed saving, nurseries, fermentation, mushrooms and more, we toured some groundbreaking farms, and we shared meals with new and old friends. On Sunday, November 3, 2019, 30 people braved the first day of daylight savings to join us over the course of the afternoon at Forrest Farm in Salmo for a farm tour and fireside potluck, enjoying several delicious soups made from the farm’s bounty!
