Spring 2020 is seeing a HUGE growth in support for local food through models like Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), like a weekly or monthly seasonal harvest box delivery. We wanted to catch up with farmers in the YA network who are connecting directly with their communities through their protein and vegetable CSA and pick their brains! EVENT RECAP: YA Mixer @ the Basin Food Summit ~ Rossland

On October 25 – 26, 2019, over 100 people joined us at Red Mountain Resort in Rossland, BC, for the Columbia Basin Mixer. The three-day Basin Food Summit kicked off on October 24th with the Food and Buyers Expo. The YA Mixer coincided with the Agricultural Forum on day two, with the third day full of unique programming aimed at new and young entrants into agriculture and food production. EVENT RECAP: Forrest Farm Tour & Potluck ~ Salmo

On Sunday, November 3, 2019, 30 people braved the first day of daylight savings to join us over the course of the afternoon at Forrest Farm in Salmo for a farm tour and fireside potluck, enjoying several delicious soups made from the farm’s bounty! Participants joined us from the communities of Rossland, Salmo, Glade, Thrums, Blewett, Krestova, Bonnington, Argenta and Nelson. EVENT RECAP: Ferment & Feast ~ Castlegar

On October 6, 2019, over 40 food and fermentation enthusiasts joined us over the course of the afternoon at the Doukhobor Discovery Center for a hands-on workshop, roundtable discussion and intimate potluck inside the museum! Participants joined us from the communities of Grand Forks, Rossland, Salmo, Vallican, Castlegar, Glade, Thrums, Nelson, and Harrop. EVENT RECAP: Creston Valley Farm Tour

On August 18, 2019, over thirty-five folks of all ages joined us through out the day as we explored three farms and four farm businesses across Creston and Erickson. Folks came out from as far away as Blewett and Winlaw and we even had a few people travel by bike between the stops, despite the 30+ degree weather (way to go!).
