Are you dreaming of growing food on the prairies? Have you been dropping hints to your friends to join you? Looking for land, but don’t know how to make it a reality?
The first of three webinars on how to find farmland on the prairies features first generation farmer Katie McInnes of The Dogs Run Farm. Katie has been farming with her husband, Colin, for ten years and will share their story of becoming farmers, how they accessed land and capital, joined existing communities and built new networks.
Scrappy starts: The Story of The Dogs Run Farm
Hear about their learnings, choice points, and best tips – followed by a question and answer period. You will walk away from the workshop knowing the following:
- How The Dogs Run Farm accessed their first piece of land through a work exchange with the owner (and what they did to scale from there)
- The most beneficial supports they have received along their journey
- Their recommendation when looking for your first piece of farmland
- How they build community and continue to bring people along for the ride
Date: Monday, January 15, 2024
Time: 5pm PT, 6pm MT, 7pm CT, 8pm ET, 9pm AT
Location: Online! Link will be sent out after registration. The workshop will be hosted on Treaty 6 territory.
