Northstar Organics in Victoria, BC is seeking a Farm and Market Hand!
ABOUT Northstar Organics
We are a 10-acre certified organic farm growing vegetables and berries in fields and greenhouses. The farm is located in Central Saanich at 2200 Bear Hill Rd. All our food is sold in the Victoria area, at farmers’ markets, and to local restaurants.
Northstar Organics is certified by NOOA. Our goal is to grow healthy food in a sustainable way, all for consumption in Victoria and area community.
DESIRED QUALITIES

- Enjoys connecting with people at market.
- Able to carry out the physical work of markets and on the farm, including lifting up to 40 pound boxes
- Must be able to commute to the farm at 2200 Bear Hill Road in Central Saanich and to Moss St Market in the Fairfield neighbourhood of Victoria
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
POSITION TASKS
Job includes work on Saturday at market, Monday and Tuesday at the farm, plus the option to work up to two more days at the farm Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, from 9 to 5.
Market work: helping the other Northstar market staff every Saturday from 8am to 2:30pm at the Moss Street Market (in Fairfield neighbourhood, Victoria) Northstar Organics tent, setting up for market, assisting customers with purchasing produce, packing up at end of market.
Farm work: every Monday and Tuesday at Northstar Organics at 2200 Bear Hill Road in Central Saanich (with the option of an extra two day on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) from 9am to 5pm. Helping with washing and packing produce for restaurant and store orders, as well as assisting in various harvesting such as bunching herbs, picking peas, harvesting salad.
POSITION DETAILS
Term: Start date is immediate, until middle of November.
Hours per week: At least Saturday, Monday and Tuesday : 21.5 hours
Option to work up to 2 extra days at the farm Wednesday, Thursday or Friday: 15 hours
Wage: $19/hour plus 4% vacation pay to start.
Employees can take home for personal use a portion of the leftover produce each week.
