ABOUT Snaw Naw As
Nanoose Economic Development (NEDC) is acquiring a 12-acre Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) property with two existing homes. We are seeking a seasoned, entrepreneurial farm professional to lead its transformation into a fully integrated agritourism destination featuring:
- Two homes converted to boutique Bed-and-Breakfast (B&B) suites
- Mixed market-garden plots for year-round, organic vegetable production
- Small-scale livestock (e.g., laying hens, sheep/goats)
- A branded farm-gate sales stand and onsite agritourism experiences (workshops, tours, farm-to-table dinners)
The Agritourism & Farm Conversion Manager will design, launch, and operate the venture, balancing agricultural best practices with hospitality, retail, and community-oriented tourism.
This land has recently been purchase by the Economic Development arm of the Snaw Naw As First Nation. All traditional Indigenous cultural values and practices will apply to the operation of the farm.

POSITION TASKS
Strategic Planning & Project Management
- Develop a phased conversion plan (site layout, capital upgrades, regulatory approvals)
- Prepare annual operating budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and performance metrics
- Oversee contractors and suppliers for renovations, infrastructure, and compliance
Farm Operations
- Design and manage diversified organic vegetable gardens (crop planning, soil health, irrigation)
- Establish and care for small livestock herds in line with animal-welfare standards
- Implement sustainable practices (composting, water conservation, permaculture principles)
Hospitality & Guest Experience
- Convert two dwellings into profitable B&B units: layout, furnishings, FoodSafe compliance
- Create memorable agritourism activities: u-pick events, cooking classes, educational tours
- Maintain high guest-service standards, reservation systems, and guest relations
Sales & Marketing - Launch and operate a farm-gate store for fresh produce, eggs, value-added goods
- Develop and execute marketing strategies (branding, website, social media, partnerships)
- Build distribution channels with local restaurants, farmers’ markets, and tourism operators
Finance & Administration
- Monitor P&L, inventory, and cost controls; report monthly to NEDC senior management
- Secure grants or agri-tourism funding; manage regulatory filings (ALR, health, zoning)
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff, seasonal workers, and volunteers
Community & Indigenous Engagement
- Ensure operations align with Snaw-Naw-As cultural values and land stewardship
- Collaborate with local First Nations artists, knowledge-keepers, and tour operators to enrich visitor experiences
POSITION DETAILS
Term: September or October 2025. This is a permanent position.
Hours per week: This is a full time salaried management position
Wage: This is a salaried position with remuneration in the $60,000-$70,000 range dependent on experience and education. Nanoose Economic Development has a Benefit Program for all employees including Health, Dental, Eyecare, Prescriptions and Mental Health Support. There is also the potential to live in one of the houses on site.
