Oloron Market Garden in Langford, BC is seeking a Farmhand!
ABOUT Oloron Market Garden
Oloron Market Garden is a small-scale, certified organic farm located at Lohbrunner
Community Farm in Langford, BC. We grow a diverse range of vegetables for local
markets and our CSA using sustainable and regenerative practices. The farm is
primarily operated by myself with occasional help from CSA members and volunteers.
DESIRED QUALITIES
I’m looking for a reliable, hardworking, and positive farmhand to assist primarily with
harvest days. This role is best suited to someone who is comfortable working
independently, enjoys physical work outdoors, and has an eye for detail. It’s a great
opportunity to spend time working in the sunshine in a beautiful place, learning how to
grow and harvest vegetables organically and how to run a small farm.
Who I’m Looking For
- Physically fit and able to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Previous farm, landscaping, or physical labor experience is an asset, but not
required
POSITION TASKS
- Harvesting a variety of vegetables with care and efficiency
- Washing, sorting, and packing produce for markets and CSA
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in work areas
- Other farm tasks as needed
- Assisting with setup and takedown for occasional markets
POSITION DETAILS
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: October 3
Hours per week: 8 hours on Fridays. Optional: Additional hours some Tuesdays and at occasional Saturday or Wednesday markets
Wage: $20 per hour + fresh veggies to take home each week. 4% vacation pay.
