ABOUT Lentelus Farms
Lentelus Farms is a diverse, sustainability-focused farm committed to regenerative agriculture. While we operate an ethical meat processing business and raise livestock in Kelowna, our primary focus in the Comox Valley is small-scale vegetable production using ecological and no-till methods. Our centrally located farm stand allows us to provide fresh, high-quality produce directly to the local community.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a thriving market garden while learning sustainable farming techniques. Additionally, the selected candidate may be eligible to participate in one of our agricultural training programs.
DESIRED QUALITIES
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual who enjoys working outdoors and is eager to learn about sustainable food production. The ideal candidate will:
- Be capable of working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Have a strong interest in small-scale, sustainable vegetable farming.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and quality standards.
- Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Meet eligibility requirements for YESP grant funding (under 30 years of age and either
a Canadian citizen or permanent resident).
Key Responsibilities
- Field Work & Crop Production – Assist with seeding, transplanting, weeding,
harvesting, and post-harvest handling. - Greenhouse & Nursery Management – Care for seedlings, manage irrigation, and ensure strong plant development.
- Irrigation & Soil Health – Support irrigation system setup and soil amendment
applications. - Post-Harvest & Packing – Wash, sort, and package produce for farm stand sales and market distribution.
- Farm Stand & Market Sales – Engage with customers, restock displays, and assist with direct-to-consumer sales.
- Farm Maintenance & General Duties – Support infrastructure projects, fencing, and equipment maintenance.
- Livestock Integration – Assist with rotational grazing and composting systems that
contribute to soil fertility.
POSITION DETAILS
Term: April 1st – December 15th, 2025, with the potential for full-time employment for
the right candidate.
Hours per week: 35–40 hours per week.
Wage: $20 per hour. No prior experience required; training will be provided to suitable
candidates.
