ABOUT THE LAND

The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga is a non-profit educational and spiritual retreat centre dedicated to teaching and promoting the core principles of yoga which embody peace, resilience, and belonging.

This 69-acre property is an agricultural and environmental gem, including a large organic garden, an abundant fruit orchard, an impressive permaculture food forest growing nuts, medicinal herbs and fruits, acres of protected and pristine agricultural land, and beautiful streams and ponds.

The primary land available for farming is in a fenced, established garden and orchard area. There are established garden beds, that have been carefully put to bed for the winter, and a lot more cultivable space that are waiting to be converted into new gardens.

The Permaculture food forest outside of the main garden area, as well as many acres of pristine meadows can also be available for farming.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The centre has abundant access to farmland, and wishes to support new farmers, while fostering personal development in all people.

They are seeking knowledgeable and experienced growers (can be a start-up business) to produce organic fruits and vegetables to support the Centre’s kitchen as well as the broader community. The farmers/gardeners are encouraged to run their own businesses that are aligned with the values and visions of the centre, but will be working in a communal setting with other gardeners sharing the space.

As this is a place of Yoga, it is essential that all individuals working on the land share a genuine interest in the practices of yoga and self development.

The gardener will have shared access to existing infrastructure including: irrigation system, hoop houses, seedling glasshouse, walk-in cooler, wash station, tools, and a cozy break room.
