We have more land opportunities than what is listed here! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at land@youngagrarians.org to access our full land inventory and B.C. Land Matching Program support in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

This half acre of land is a mostly flat plateau nestled a 14 acre property that slopes southwest towards the ocean on the other side of the road. The area is very quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nature.

The property is mostly forested with just a few small cleared areas. The available space has not been farmed but was cleared several years ago and then left unmanaged. Blackberries, broom, thistle etc have grown back in the space and need to be cleared again (update: cleared in October 2022). The exposure is good, especially for afternoon light, as there is some forest to the southeast. Access is via a driveway running along the northwest side of the space.

Water is municipal and a line with its own meter can be installed for the growing space. There is also a well on the property but it is not currently in use. The landholders are open to having a pond dug to collect water that runs off the slope at the north end of the available area if wanted. The space is not fenced.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity for ideally a couple or small family with strong farming experience to create a farm business on the land. The leasing farmers would be welcome to bring their own accommodation to the site. Water and power hookups can be provided but no septic.

The landholders recently bought the property and would like to share it with others who can make best use of the space. The ideal fit would be those with experience and ability to run a profitable operation on the land, are quiet and enjoy living and working in a slightly remote area such as this.

The landholders are open to considering different types of production using restorative or permaculture techniques such as vegetables, fruit, small livestock, etc – subject to the potential farmer’s plan and experience.
