UNAVAILABLE – LAND OPPORTUNITY: OFF GRID CABIN WITH FARMING/WILDCRAFTING POTENTIAL – CEDAR, BC

There are more available land listings available than what is listed here! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at land@youngagrarians.org to access our full land inventory in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

These beautiful 14 acres are a mix of forest and meadow located in South Cedar, (south of Nanaimo and north of Ladysmith). The property is off-grid, quiet and peaceful, and has great potential for low impact farming, wildcrafting, mushroom cultivation, etc.

The meadow is currently mostly shrubby with lots of wild roses and nettles. There is a clearing that could be planted, and more area could be cleared as well. Perhaps some animals could be brought onto the land to help clear, though there is currently no fencing in place.

Water is limited (there is a seasonal pond and cistern which is filled as needed by a water truck) so crops with low water requirements or harvesting what is naturally growing on the land would be best.

A cosy off-grid cabin is available for rent as soon as March 1. Rent is $1050 per month.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Some farming income must be generated from the property as the land needs to achieve farm status. The owners are open to different arrangements and want the land to be stewarded with care, long term for the right fit.

There is potential for others to live on the land as well in their own accommodations and for community to be built here over time. The goal is to create a sustainable, long term arrangement where those living on the land are able to generate some income from it and the land is cared for and well maintained.
