ABOUT THE LAND
We have lived on our 5 acre property on Quamichan Lake for twenty years. We’ve grazed sheep for the past 7 years, and have a small orchard. During the spring-summer months, there are beehives along the edge of the field tended by a leasing beekeeper.
Approximately 2 flat acres with full exposure can be made available to a farmer this season for market gardening.
The local soils are a heavier soil with clay underlay. Municipal power and water is available, and there is also a well for more serious irrigation.
Property is deer fenced, and a John Deere 2320 with various implements is available.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our future vision is to create a purpose-built market garden/cafe/greenhouse or cidery/meadery type farming business. We’re looking for an experienced & entrepreneurial person with a solid business plan to help with that venture. We’re patient and will wait for the right person.
A market garden would be an ideal place to start. We want to see the land used in a productive way, and share the space with a local farmer for growing food. The existing orchard can also be available as part of the deal.
This property has excellent access to the communities in the North Cowichan and Maple Bay areas. We are open to creative ideas and marketable farming solutions!
