ABOUT THE LAND

Many acres are available on this 20-acre ALR land nestled in the beautiful Alberni Valley – a picturesque landscape with mountain views and cattle grazing on neighbouring hills. The area is very quiet and peaceful, surrounded by nature and farmland.

The majority of the land is currently managed as hay fields by the farmer next door, who also has cattle grazing in the surrounding pastures. The landholders have some poultry – 30 chickens and 10 ducks, in the front side of the property near their house.

There is a year-round creek running through the property fed by the snowmelt off of the mountain. The fields are not fenced.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

It was love at first sight for the landholders. They quickly moved to the farm from the city to make this land their family home. They have a long-term vision of developing a diversified farm, including an orchard, maple trees for syrup, dual-purpose sheep, a vegetable garden, and a healthy forest. But for the time being, they are working and raising children. They are seeking other farm-curious people to share the farm with, as they slowly develop the farm.

An interest or skills in old-fashioned 1800’s farming will be very welcomed.

The landholders are open to different types of production including vegetables, grains, and livestock (though poultry will need serious predator control), using organic or regenerative practices.

This opportunity could work for career farmers, part-time farmers, or farming families. One rental home will be available (pending renovations) for the right fit! Or the farmer(s) can bring their own tiny home or yurt to set up in the back field if off-grid living has an appeal.
