ABOUT THE LAND
Located in the village of Wakefield, QC, this property offers 25 – 50 acres of rolling, arable land for farming, plus some wooded areas.
The landholders run a business on the land, mostly centered around maple syrup, and don’t use much of the field space available. Over the past decade, the fields have been used for sheep grazing and hay. There is a large barn in good condition and some other outbuildings on the land.
The property is located just 30 minutes from the city of Ottawa/Gatineau, an urban centre home to over a million people, and 10 minutes from the small artsy (and largely anglophone) village of Wakefield, which hosts a thriving farmers’ market.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This opportunity is open to any type of production! Organic practices (certified or uncertified) are preferred.
The landholders have an established business (www.fermeetforet.ca) with sales outlets that the incoming farmer could plug into, if desired. They are looking for a farmer (or a couple) who would like to lease the land and run their own business, or partner with the landholders and increase the offerings of the farm. For those interested in purchasing land, the landholders are also open to discussing that possibility.
Accommodations are available in a cabin or in the downstairs of a house on the property.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The landholders are looking for a farmer (or couple) with at least a few years farming experience, a clear idea of what they want to do with the land, and the skills to accomplish their vision. They are looking forward to meeting with farmers who are ready to take their farm dream to the next level!
