ABOUT THE LAND
This property is located in the prime agricultural area of Oldfield Road in Saanich. The total property size is approximately 30 acres and has been fallow in recent years. Water is available to the property by 2-inch municipal line. Some livestock fencing is in place but needs repair. All agricultural areas have full exposure.
The areas available for cultivation, currently and in the future, include:
- 7.2 acres alongside Oldfield Road, well drained and easily accessible with a slight slope to the east
- 7.8 acres at the north end of the property, slightly lower and floods seasonally, marsh grasses around the perimeter of the space
- 7.6 acres is currently marshy and may be available for production in the future pending drainage project
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The goal for the property is to create a productive, successful regenerative farm. Growing practices used should be restorative, but organic certification is not required. This is an opportunity for an experienced farmer or farmers – the landholder is open to multiple farmers on the site given the scale of the opportunity.
The site is a great location for a farm market or other on site marketing opportunities. The landholder is interested in collaborating with the farmer to build infrastructure required for a successful operation. The land is available for medium to long term lease depending on the operation. The landholder will build a home and live on the property in the coming years.
