ABOUT THE LAND
Looking for a well-supported environment to launch your diversified market gardening dreams? Look no further! Just off of Highway 7 in Pitt Meadows, this opportunity offers ½ an acre of cleared land for a new project. Situated on a 100 acre blueberry farm which has been in operation for 39 years, this plot is suitable for a variety of production types and will benefit from proximity to the established blueberry operation. The land comes with access to water, electricity, tools, machinery, and a barn. There is the possibility of discussing shared farm labour.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This opportunity is full of potential! The landholders are open to anything from vegetable gardening to poultry to bees to hydroponics to vermiculture, and beyond! They would love a year-round grower, and are open to the installation of temporary structures (e.g. a greenhouse or tool shed). Depending on the incoming operation, there might also be opportunity for expansion into fallow blueberry fields. This opportunity is extremely well-set up for a new farmer, as the landholders are willing to share sales channels with the farmer and/or buy from them directly.
The landholders would love to set up a seasonal farmers’ market on-site, which would benefit from the well-trafficked adjacent roadway and the farm’s existing customer traffic. They are motivated by a desire to increase access to healthy and affordable foods in their community, and would like to see more and more diversified production on their own farm.
In addition to putting the available ½ acre to use, the landholders would love to bring a beekeeper onto the property, with up to 400 hives for their 100 acres of blueberries.
ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
This opportunity would be perfect for a driven, enthusiastic, and creative farmer who has experience and knowledge to share. The landholders are hoping to bring an incoming farmer in with experience in diversified, regenerative, and/or organic farming methods. A collaborative sensibility, strong communication skills, and excellent business planning are all desirable qualities.
