Farmer Podcast Club: Native Plants with Latifa Pelletier-Ahmed

Enjoy listening to this Farmer Podcast Club episode.

In this month’s podcast club release, we’re tuning into a November 2025 episode featuring Latifa Pelletier-Ahmed, a botanist, herbalist, and co-owner of ALCLA Native Plants in Treaty 7 Territory in Alberta, who shares what it means to work with native seed during a time of ecological change.

From the show notes: “Latifa shares her path from studying herbal medicine and ethnobotany in England to co-running ALCLA Native Plants—one of Canada’s few nurseries dedicated entirely to native species. She describes taking over a 30-year legacy of prairie conservation and how wild seed production differs from domesticated agriculture. She also explains how restoring native plants is hands-on climate action anyone can take.”

If you’re curious about native plants, seed collecting, or ways to support biodiversity, you won’t want to miss this episode.
