Aug 10, 2025: Dunrea, MB – Farm Tour and Potluck at Dunrea Farming Company
You’re invited to a Farm Tour and Potluck at Dunrea Farming Company in Margaret, Manitoba! Come out to connect with other farmers and local food enthusiasts, share a delicious potluck meal, and learn about regenerative agriculture.
Experience the growing world of Dunrea Farming Company, an ecological farm led by Kara Burrell with support from her partner Brian Meaud. This family-run operation grows vegetables and garlic, and will soon be opening an on-farm bed and breakfast. With their two children, Kara and Brian are reimagining what rural living and regenerative farming mean to them.
On this tour, we’ll walk through their evolving three-acre market garden filled with perennials and annual vegetables. Learn how they’re cultivating abundance using natural farming practices, permanent raised beds, composting, cover cropping and preserving ecosystems around the farm.
You’ll also get a first look at their newly built farm store and bed and breakfast accommodation, a beautiful addition to their agri-tourism vision. We’ll finish the day with a community potluck and pizza night!
Whether you’re dreaming of your own farm or just curious about growing good food and community, this is the perfect place to get inspired.

About Dunrea Farming Company
Dunrea Farming Company is spearheaded by Kara Burrell with support from her spouse Brian Meaud (who owns and operates a 4th generation grain farm). They live and farm with their 2 school age children, near the Souris River, north of Margaret Manitoba and just a few miles north west of the Grain Farm near Dunrea, Manitoba.
The growing season on their farm is busy and filled with the bounty and beauty of the garden and the land they live on. They grow a variety of vegetables, garlic and fibre plants. They also keep a small herd of goats, sheep and chickens. On Friday nights they operate and attend a summer farmers’ market in Ninette, Manitoba.
They are still developing the property, gardens and growing infrastructure and it is exciting and fulfilling work. The market garden and home quarter section use organic practices, maintaining natural land and re-wilding land around farmland when possible. They use compost, cover crops, human powered labour, and are mindful of their impact on the world. They are working towards using permanent raised bed to minimize tillage with the vegetables and are using straw mulch to minimize bare soil. They are also planting trees and other perennials.
They believe that it takes community and many hands to farm sustainably and in a way that is healthy for people and the environment – therefore, they would love to attract more people into rural farming life as a part of regenerative farming.
