Young Agrarians is a farmer2farmer collaborative network strategy, and new entrant program platform, with a lens on ecological and regenerative agriculture in Canada. Back in 2012, we saw what groups like the The Greenhorns and the National Young Farmers Coalition were doing, and we knew Canada was ready for this type of work.
We are inspired by farmers everywhere who are stewarding the land and our food systems for future generations. The issues today in agriculture are complex, and it’s going to take many people and solutions to move us into the future of food, and adapt to climate change.
We have a niche role as a community builder in the sector to grow the connectivity of new and young farmers to each other, and build tools and supports where possible to support the next generation of farmers. Collaboration and communication are key to this work. We are currently Western Canada focused, with the hopes in the future to work with more farmers and farm organizations from coast to coast.
The network of collaborators is growing! From farmers hosting events, to data collection for the farmer resource UMAP, to land access programming, farm apprenticeships, and business mentorships, Young Agrarians is working with a number of collaborators to grow supports for new farmers. The list of fantastic farmers we work with is extensive. Contact us to get involved: email@example.com.
