Ready to Grow Your Farm Business?

Are you a young (or young at heart) animal or vegetable producer living in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba? Are you operating a new farm and looking for guidance to grow your business?

Young Agrarians is excited to announce the expansion of our successful Business Mentorship Network into the Prairie provinces! This program pairs new and seasoned farmers together to cultivate the skills for running ecologically sustainable and financially viable businesses. Mentors support you to dig into the business of farming and lay the groundwork for your farm’s long term viability.

What You Get:

As a participant in this program you will receive 30 hours of one-on-one mentorship with an experienced farm business mentor, financial training, opportunities for peer networking, and greater online visibility through YA social channels.

Mentors will support you to achieve your farm business goals. Mentors will help you evaluate multiple facets of your business: production, operations, marketing, financial and risk management, as well as assist in developing and implementing strategic business goals for the upcoming season and beyond.

Priority will be given (but not limited) to applicants who are new entrants into agriculture, residing in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba, ages 18-35, having been in operation for 1-5 years.

To review the full program details visit our Business Mentorship Network Page, and then head over to complete the Mentee Application.

We are also looking for Farm Business Mentors who are available to connect, listen and offer guidance and support to a new farmer. Ideally you come with expertise and confidence in the business operations of a farm and a network of supportive resources that you could share. You don’t need to have all the answers and must be willing to coach a new farmer to build their problem solving and research skills so they have the capacity to manage long term.

This is a paid position of $50/hr  and meetings will happen online, on the phone and in person when possible. For the 2023 cohort all matches will be made in February and Mentor/Mentee pairs  will have until the end of November to utilize the hours. The completion of a four to five hour online course in Farm Business Mentorship offered online by the Young Agrarians is a paid requirement for all new Mentors.

If you are interested to be a Mentor please be in touch at the email below for more information and we will also ask you to fill out a Mentor Application.

Apply by February 13th, 2023.

Please contact us if you have any questions 🙂 business@youngagrarians.org

We greatly appreciate your help in sharing this opportunity with your networks. Encourage any new farmers, producers, co-operatives to apply.
