Are you working on food sovereignty or food security projects involving Indigenous communities in BC? Tea Creek would love to hear about it!
Tea Creek has been awarded the contract to deliver a research paper to present to the Indigenous Advisory Council on Agriculture and Food created as a platform for the ministry and members to work together to enhance the equitable participation of Indigenous peoples in the agriculture and food sector and support the realization of their economic development objectives.
They’ve been invited in the paper to report both examples of thriving Indigenous food systems in BC as well as identify systemic barriers in agricultural and land use policy that may restrict nations or communities from realizing their own food sovereignty.
Tea Creek is excited to have been selected as they have a strong initiative underway in the North. Their organization is an Indigenous-led food sovereignty initiative working on revitalizing local access to traditional and cultivated foods. They offer agricultural training, employment skills training and grow tonnes of food on our 3 cultivated acres.
They would love to have the opportunity to hear about your food sovereignty or security work in the community as it applies to Indigenous communities and hope you can fill in this short, 10 minute survey. Upon entering your feedback you will be automatically included in a prize draw for an Indigenous-made goods basket worth $500.
