Donate on Giving Tuesday and Help Grow the Next Generation of Farmers in BC!

This winter, Young Agrarians (YA) is asking you to participate in Giving Tuesday Canada, a national day dedicated to charitable giving on November 29th. YA’s Grow A Farmer program provides resources and tools, educational and community-building events, business mentorships, and land access programming. Help us raise funds for 2017 programs!
Interested? Here’s how you can join:
  1. Donate to YA. Make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor. Complete your donation online and obtain a charitable tax receipt. Yes, it’s that easy!
  2. Share this blog post on social media: help us spread the word! Become YA’s megaphone and let your friends and colleagues know how they too can help grow the next generation of farmers in BC. 
  3. Participate in our Giving Tuesday online giveaway on November 29th. Stay tuned on our Facebook page for details on how you can  enter to win a great prize donated by a great local business!
Why is it important to support YA?

A donation to YA is an investment in the revitalization of ecological and sustainable agriculture in B.C. By making a donation to our programs, you’ll help us GROW agriculture by providing supports for new and young farmers to enter the sector and thrive. Currently, less than 5% of farmers in Canada are under the age of 35: now is the time to invest in the next generation of farmers! Help support new and young farmers to access the tools and resources they need.

“In the beginning, as a brand new farmer, I didn’t have a network of people to reach out to. Young Agrarians helped me discover the wider community of small-scale farmers on Vancouver Island. Through their farm tours, workshops and mixers, I was able to connect to moral support (whew, I wasn’t alone!) and meet my current farm business partners. Later I was able to participate in the Young Agrarians Business Mentorship program and get the training I need to become financially viable. Today I’m a part of a thriving farmers’ co-operative and have found my niche within the sector. Thanks, Young Agrarians, for being part of this journey.”
