The Young Agrarians Water Use & Drainage Manual for Landowners and Farmers in Metro Vancouver is intended to support landowners and farmers to assess and improve drainage and irrigation for planning and implementation purposes. The goal of this resource is to help you objectively decide, from an irrigation and drainage perspective, if your land can support a farming operation, and help farmers determine if there are ways to improve irrigation and drainage on the land through shifts in farming practices.
The YA Water Use & Drainage Manual features everything from technical explanations of irrigation and drainage, to flowcharts helping you identify potential issues on your land and solutions to common problems, to how to calculate how much water you have available for irrigation, to case stories of how farmers and farmland owners are approaching irrigation and drainage challenges on their land. The guide is focused on Metro Vancouver, though many of the irrigation and drainage principles will be applicable to diverse regions in B.C.
