About Little Mountain Farm
Little Mountain Farm has 1 acre currently cultivated and has been farmed for the past 4 seasons, with all infrastructure in place (irrigation, fencing etc) and pretty lovely soil! I am looking to make about 1/2 of it available to a passionate and dedicated farmer who ideally has at least 2 years of market gardening experience, is confident in their vegetable growing abilities and is open to collective marketing (particularly growing co-operatively for sale to the CSA).
About the Opportunity
I ran Little Mountain Farm solo this year (with the help of an apprentice two days/week) and for the 2018 season I am looking for the right individual to share the opportunity of farming this land with as well as the responsibility of keeping the farm and CSA running. I am happy to provide mentorship in running a market garden business, and imagine this opportunity would be ideal for someone who has worked on farms and is looking to gain some skills in farming more independently but with support before perhaps taking on a farming venture of their own.
The land share agreement would likely operate on a year to year basis, though there is potential for a longer term arrangement (and possible farm succession) for the right person. On farm housing may also be a possibility, though not guaranteed – this opportunity would work best for someone who already lives in the Victoria/Saanich peninsula area and is actively looking for land to farm.
