You’re invited to a socially-distanced Land Social at Roots ‘n Thyme, a small-scale regenerative family farm and bakery on leased land in Dunster, B.C! If you’re curious about what land matching and sharing is all about, join us for the event.
Be inspired and learn about the incredible farming that can be done on leased land!
We will tour the farm, enjoy some a locally prepared food, and take a dive into the steps to building a successful farm on leased land. We will explore what farming on leased land is like and learn about how the B.C. Land Matching Program can help you find the perfect piece of land for you to build your dream farm business – or the perfect farmer for your land. Your regional Land Matcher will share information and answer questions about land matching and how leasing land works. Both farmers seeking land and farmland holders thinking about leasing land are encouraged to attend – as well as anyone who loves food, farming, and getting out onto the land!

ABOUT THE LAND
Roots ‘n Thyme is part of Pete Amyoony’s 10 acre property and bedding plant operation where up to 20,000 plants are grown in the spring and up to 80 varieties of tomatoes! With a southern exposure, lots of water and a silty loam soil, the two gardens cover a 1/2 acre and are lush with veggies (and no shortage of weeds, says Pete)! There is also an AMAZING concrete root cellar which keep potatoes, other root crops and apples in good shape until mid-summer of the following year. A mixed fruit orchard adds to the beauty and flavour of the land.
With a secure lease on land, Yann, Kat and baby Zavion of Roots ‘n Thyme, are a young family now nestled in the Robson Valley growing and baking nutrient-dense food for the nearby communities.
“We believe growing chemical-free biodiverse food is activism! We believe small-scale, locally produced food is vital for a sustainable future. We believe the nutritional quality of edible plants depends upon building up fertile soils, abundant in living microorganisms. We believe that by adopting soil health practices we invest in the health of our community, environment and future generations.”
Roots ‘n Thyme has recently launched a sourdough bakery, with the help of the Roth family. They deliver sourdough bread across the region to Valemount, McBride, Dunster and Jasper. In addition they are farming on the land, and expanding production to offer a U-harvest vegetable program.
