ABOUT THE LAND

This gorgeous little homestead is centrally located in Kelowna. The whole property is 4.36 acres with approximately .5 of an acres currently cultivated. The land backs onto Mission Creek and has a wilderness feeling, despite being a few minutes drive to town. The cultivated area has been lovingly farmed since 2010 by several different farmers, all whom have been adding compost, building soil and improving the productivity of the land using organic methods and is now available for a new market garden farmer to keep it in production!  The photos were taken in muddy March, so they don’t quite do justice to this amazing space.

This is a turn key operation with everything you need to have a productive growing season. Irrigation comes from a pond on the property with a pump that is available to irrigate the market garden throughout the summer, with plenty of lines available.  There is a shed space for tool storage, as well as a well built passive solar greenhouse for season extension. There is power to the greenhouse and the former farmers have left behind the refrigerator they used for keeping produce fresh.  Another great perk is that the exiting farmers have left behind an existing customer base, CSA members who would love to continue purchasing fresh vegetables!

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The landowner would like to see this land continue to produce food, and is open to discussing a long term lease. There is no housing available on site, but the former farmers lived on the land in a converted school bus and the owners are open to discussing a similar situation with the right candidates. The owner lives on the property, so the farmer must be mindful of their use of the space as well. The farmer should have intention of running a business and generating revenue off the land, so farm status can be maintained.
