B.C. Land Matching Program British Columbia Central & Northern BC Land

LAND OPPORTUNITY: 77 acres for ecological farming in 108 Mile

We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

Located just opposite the 108 Mile airstrip, this 77-acre property offers an excellent opportunity to start or expand a farm business. The property has plenty of space suitable for market gardening, as well as wooded areas for grazing livestock. The soil is well-draining and fertile, with excellent agronomic potential, and would be suited to a wide variety of crops.

The landholders previously produced medicinal herb essential oils from wild-foraged and cultivated plants. Their herbal products were used at Spruce Hill Resort & Spa in 108 Mile – which they previously owned – as well as distributed across Canada. The landholders are now well into their retirement, and their equipment for distillation and processing of herbal products remains on-site. As they continue to enjoy retirement, they would love to see an incoming farmer continue operations on the property.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity is open to many types of production, including various crops and livestock, though it would be particularly suited to a farmer interested in producing essential oils.

The landholders are passionate about sustainable farming and healthy living, and would love for their property to contribute to the health of their community. As they are stepping away from their business, they would like to see someone else benefit from the fertile land and infrastructure on the property. They would be happy to mentor the incoming farmer in essential oil production!

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be interested in commercial agricultural production, beyond homesteading.

Farmers interested in sustainable production, medicinal herb production, local food security and organic farming practices would be an especially great fit!
