We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
Scenically located near Wasa Lake, with sweeping views of the BC Rockies to the east, this expansive property offers approximately 500 acres of grazing land! It presents an excellent opportunity for livestock producers looking to establish themselves in the Columbia Valley or expand an existing operation.
The landscape is predominantly grassland with few invasive plant species, and the pastures are healthy and can provide high-quality grazing. Most of the ranch was logged five to seven years ago; the remaining forest cover consists primarily of understory and regeneration layers of Douglas-fir and ponderosa pine, along with a small number of established trees.
The property includes two larger lakes and three small seasonal ponds, which together provide a reliable source of drinking water for livestock. Soils in the area range from gravelly silt loam to gravelly loam. Some perimeter fencing is in place; however, it is not contiguous and will require upgrading to fully contain cattle or other livestock.

This excellent opportunity is open to a variety of livestock types, and the landholders welcome thoughtful plans for how the land could be used. Bring your ideas to discuss!
The landholders reside on the property, which is located within the Agricultural Land Reserve. There is no housing available for the farmer on-site, so interested candidates will need access to their own accommodations.
The landholders are committed to regenerative grazing practices and have developed a rotational grazing plan that they will share with the incoming farmer. The prepared Grazing Management Plan outlines suggested stocking rates and livestock rotation, and reflects approaches that the landholders are comfortable implementing.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be based in the Columbia Valley and would have experience managing livestock herds and the capacity to assess and respond to the demands of operating at this scale.
Additionally, the ideal candidate would be interested in farming regeneratively and operating based on the rotational grazing plan that the landholders have prepared.
If you’re looking for land for grazing livestock on a larger scale in the Columbia Basin and Boundary region, get in touch now – opportunities of this size are not common!
