LAND OPPORTUNITY: 5.5-acre turnkey mixed veg and livestock opportunity – Pemberton, BC

We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

This 10-acre turnkey farm in Pemberton has over five acres of land available for small-scale mixed farming! This ALR property is conveniently located within walking distance to town.

Of the available acreage, four acres are in pasture, consisting of a three-acre main pasture and a one-acre winter pasture. The property also features a 600-square-foot barn with access to power, water and wi-fi (suitable for small livestock); a poultry run and hen house (suitable for 35 birds); a three-sided shed available for storage on-site; and a fenced vegetable garden (200 x 100 feet).

There is a small tractor and implements available for use and the incoming farmer can bring additional tools and equipment onto the property. There is also a farm stand already in place, which the incoming farmer could use for on-farm sales.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This property offers an excellent opportunity to step onto an established farm and start farming right away. Though this is a turnkey operation set up for mixed livestock, vegetable and flower production, the landholder is also open to making changes to the established setup and incorporating other production types such as bees, mushrooms and more. Organic and/or regenerative farming practices are preferred.

In exchange for use of the farm, the landholder would be open to a crop share arrangement and the incoming farmer would be expected to maintain and caretake the property.

Time-permitting, the landholder would be available to mentor an incoming farmer and support the transition this spring. Bring your ideas to discuss!

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This opportunity would be well-suited to candidates who have some farming experience and are passionate about taking care of land. Ideally, the farmer would keep their operation neat and tidy and have a desire to beautify their surroundings. The ideal candidate would value sustainability and responsible land stewardship.

The incoming farmer will likely be sharing space with housing tenants and occasional visits from the landholder, so being community-minded will be crucial.

This is a great chance for a farmer to grow a new farm business in a turnkey environment. If you’re looking for land for a mixed farm operation in the Sea-to-Sky region, get in touch to learn more!
