ABOUT THE LAND
Looking for land for your beekeeping or rabbit operation? This 4.2-acre property may be the perfect fit! The property is centrally located in the Similkameen Valley, on the outskirts of Oliver, and is surrounded by other farm operations.
This site comes equipped with fencing, storage, and underground irrigation: there is a 2-inch pipe connection in the main ¾-acre field with a moveable sprinkler irrigation system. The water is supplied through a privately drilled well that has never run dry, and pulls from the Okanagan River, which runs alongside the property.
This is an active farm and the landholders are currently keeping pigs, chickens, and goats on the land. The property borders a forested area that provides some buffer from neighbouring farms and would offer great shelter for bees.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The landholders are planning to start their own vegetable farm at the property, and would love to share the space (and ample plants for pollination) with a beekeeper.
Additionally, the landholders are gathering the infrastructure to start a meat rabbit operation and would welcome a farmer to learn about and manage the operation and available infrastructure, which includes the meat rabbits and rabbit cages with water bottles and feeders. The landholders would be happy to share their knowledge on rabbit production and mentor the incoming farmer on traditional harvesting practices.
This opportunity also comes with the potential for accommodations! There is a travel trailer on the property that is currently rented out, but if available could be eventually offered to the incoming farmer, if desired.
With close access to amenities, markets and customers, this is a great location to start or expand a honey or rabbit business!

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for this property would be comfortable working in close proximity to the landholders, who also reside on the property. Communication and care will be key for this opportunity.
This is an organically managed farm, so the ideal candidate would be invested in caring for the land with an equal level of respect. The farmer will need to provide their own equipment if they require any for their operation.
If you’re looking to start or expand a bee keeping or rabbit operation, don’t hesitate to reach out!
