We have more land opportunities than what is listed here! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at land@youngagrarians.org to access our full land inventory and B.C. Land Matching Program support in your region.

ABOUT THE LAND

This sizeable property is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious farmer to undertake a mixed farming operation. Situated just outside the small village of Chase, this 25-acre farm has around 17 acres of pasture that are ready for almost any type of farming.

The current landholders purchased the land from a family that had held the property since the 1930s. The property was previously farmed but has only been used as grazing pasture for the last 20 years. There is low cow-fencing all around the pastures, and irrigation is accessed vie tie-ins to the local irrigation district system.

Most of the land is in the ALR, with some small portions of the pastures outside of it. There are some barns, structures, and sheds on the 17 acres, some of which might be available to the incoming farmer, and will require some repair.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The fenced pastures have only been used for grazing (horses) over the last several years, and the landholders are hoping that an enterprising young farmer can make the most of this blank canvas.

There are several other dwellings on-site, and the landholders live on the property year-round. The landholders are open to almost any type of farming at this time, but envision something like a market garden, poultry operation, or a mixed operation. The property is very near to the centre of the village of Chase, providing easy access to markets and distribution, and off-farm housing accommodations.

ABOUT THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

This opportunity would suit a young farmer with lots of energy, knowledge, and drive to make the most of this blank canvas! As some infrastructure work will need to be done, they should have confident knowledge in both farming and setting up a new operation.

As several other households are already on the property, this farmer should be a strong communicator who enjoys working cooperatively with others.
