ABOUT THE LAND
Dundink’s Garden is a 10 acre farm outside Nanaimo, BC. For the past 12 years, this farm has been producing an abundance of fruit and vegetables for three farmers markets and an on-farm store. The farm has 8 acres in production, with two greenhouses, field crops, and fruit such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and currants.
The farm is nestled in a warm and protected valley, with a slight south slope and full sun exposure. Two dug ponds irrigate the property.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Nick Dundink, the owner, has been farming his whole life and has a wealth of experience to share. He is looking for an aspiring farmer to join him on the property to learn through experience managing their own plot of up to 1/2 an acre of the established farm space this season. The land has been well managed with organic practices, cover cropping and crop rotation. Irrigation infrastructure is set up and ready to go, tractors and tillers are available for cultivation, and Nick is keen to pass on his knowledge.
Nick would also like help with the rest of the farm throughout the growing season, and would offer paid work of up to 10 hours per week in the peak of the season. He would like to find the right (ideally long-term) arrangement for the right person, so get in touch to start a conversation!
