ABOUT THE LAND

The land has been lovingly farmed since 1978 by Jim and Astrida Knox who, over the years, have raised or grown pretty much any thing possible, including vegetables, sheep, broiler chickens, dairy goats, Jersey cow, and beef cattle, and laying hens. At this point in their lives they are slowing down and are now raising ducks, bees, haskaps and their own vegetables. The land is a narrow 10 acre strip bordered on one side by the Eagle River and the other by Warner Rd.  Beautiful, black soil – no rocks, valley bottom dream land. The water table is very high so there is almost never a need to irrigate.  This property is truly gorgeous, on the edge of the wilderness and a sanctuary for both human and wild life.  The property is a 45 minute drive to Revelstoke and 45 minute drive to Salmon Arm.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Jim and Astrida are opening a door and exploring possibilities of having young farmers on the land to continue to use the land to it’s full potential. They are happy to share their knowledge with a young farmer.  There are outbuildings on the land, a barn, currently  used for storage – size 20×40 x20, a Chicken house – currently used for duck and a workshop which could be used as root cellar. There is plenty of room for farmers to start their own business, as well as to step into supporting what has already been working on the land with the  haskap and nuts and bees. There is a possibility for the leasing farmer to stay on the land in a trailer.
