We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
This unique one-acre property in a historic farming neighborhood of Terrace is ready for a new chapter!
The site offers two distinct areas for cultivation, including a front plot being cleared this March and a rear half-acre with a unique marshy section for diverse ecological projects. The land has not previously been used for agriculture, and about a third of the property is wooded, with a creek running through.
The front area offers a cleared space with a gentle grade, excellent sun exposure and promising topsoil. This area currently has two large trees, which are slated for removal in late March. The back area includes some cleared space alongside the marshy section, adding biodiversity.

The landholder’s vision for this land is to establish a vibrant community garden and provide an opportunity for a new farmer to access land and contribute to local food security. The opportunity is open to a variety of production types, including market gardening, flowers, bees, and more.
The landholder is looking for collaborators to help finish clearing the land and would love to see further farm-focused improvements like fencing and greenhouse space. While the heritage farmhouse is currently in “rough” condition and requires significant repair or an eventual tear-down, it can currently serve as secure storage and space for refrigeration. Water will be accessible via an outdoor spigot, and the landholder is open to having a portable toilet brought to the site.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be a hardworking, community-minded individual or group that have a “sweat equity” mindset and are excited to help prepare the land for long-term productivity. This opportunity is perfect for those who value a collaborative environment, and would also be great for a solo farmer who would like to set up a space to suit their farming needs.
