We always have new land opportunities coming into our inventory, some of which aren’t on our blog yet! Get in touch with a Land Matcher at bclmp@youngagrarians.org to learn about the latest opportunities and to access free B.C. Land Matching Program services in your region.
Conveniently located in Terrace, this beautiful private garden offers a shared 1.6-acre space for vegetables, herbs, flowers, or a small market garden!
The property was previously owned by orchardists, and features mature fruit trees, sea buckthorn, linden, blackberry, salmonberry, herbs, hops and an abundance of other established perennial and native plants. The land consists of a mix of full sun and shaded areas. There is currently a small greenhouse and some beehives on the land, and both electricity and water are easily accessible.

This is a great opportunity for a farmer interested in small-scale mixed organic/no-spray production. The landholder, who lives on-site, would love to share the space with a farmer who can establish a market garden and bring the existing planting into better production. Flowers and herbs would also be welcome.
The landholder is currently beekeeping, and there is good potential to expand and manage more bees on the land. The landholders would be happy to offer mutually-beneficial support for business planning and development. They also have the necessary knowledge to set up a year-round growing site with cold climate heat pumps, and can invest in creating and managing this space.
The location is conveniently close to sales channels, with multiple promising options such as the weekly farmers market, roadside stands and CSA boxes.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity would be interested in rejuvenating the existing orchard trees and perennial plantings, while also developing their own crops and plantings. It is important that the incoming farmer does not make use of chemical/pesticide inputs that could impact the resident wildlife.
The ideal candidate would also be peaceful, like-minded with the landholders, and able to coexist and communicate respectfully in the shared space. While the landholders are flexible about production type, and can support with business planning, the incoming farmer should be dedicated and committed to bringing the land into production and making use of the multitude of opportunities at this location.
