Clear Sky Meditation Centre in the East Kootenay of BC is offering two farm and food forest opportunities in 2016.
About Clear Sky Meditation Centre
We are meditation and retreat centre with a quadruple bottom line of economic, social, environmental and spiritual sustainability. Our one-acre food forest is one of Canada’s few larger cold climate systems. It was designed by Richard Walker and was planted in 2013, with the support of agroforestry initiative funding. Our food forest is being developed as a ‘demonstration model’ of sustainable agroforestry systems in practice. Learning how to make a food forest system financially viable, recording sharable data and trying new things is a big part of our mandate.
Now in its 4th year of life, we are looking for two enthusiastic people to join us in our food forest in 2016. We have two available positions (Farm manager & Farm Product Manager), both of which are ‘service-stay’ opportunities. There may be opportunities to turn this into a sustainable business partnership down the road for the right candidates.
We take a modern, practical and community focused approach to buddhist based meditation practice at Clear Sky. Our farmers are integrated into our community fully, so we invite applicants who also want to participate in personal growth, learning together in community and a regular meditation practice.
