About the Small-Scale Meat Producers Association
The Small-Scale Meat Producers Association represents British Columbia farmers and
ranchers who are raising meat outside of the conventional, industrial system. We are a
registered non-profit society made up of primary-producers, processors and supportive
individuals and organizations. Our mission is to build greater stability and growth
opportunities for small-scale meat producers in British Columbia.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications and Member Engagement Coordinator to join our team. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance member engagement and promote the association’s activities and objectives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about
sustainable agriculture and possess a strong understanding of the challenges faced by
small-scale meat producers.
This is a remote position within BC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage communication strategies and campaigns to engage existing
members and attract new members. - Manage memberships through our CRM system
- Create and distribute a variety of communications materials including newsletters,
press releases, email announcements, and promotional materials. - Manage and update the association’s website and social media platforms, ensuring
content is current, relevant, and engaging. - Organize and coordinate events such as workshops, webinars, and conferences that
promote member interaction and professional development. - Facilitate effective communication channels between the association’s leadership, members, and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust plans as needed to improve member engagement.
- Assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts to support association initiatives.
- Work together with research and project leads to develop educational materials for program delivery including presentations, webinars, videos, biosecurity manuals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Agriculture, or a
related field. - At least 2 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a
non-profit or agricultural context. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to convey
complex information clearly and persuasively. - Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage
multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. - Proficient in digital communication tools and platforms, including content
management systems and social media. - Knowledge of and passion for sustainable agriculture and meat production.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting.
