High Slope Acres in Smithers, BC is seeking a Carpenter/Farm Helper for the 2020 season! This is a full time position split between two neighbouring businesses / employers.

ABOUT High Slope Acres

Mountains, lakes, and a cultural community all close by this 80 acre, 2 parcel farm. It is located in the Bulkley Valley, overlooking both Telkwa and Smithers in Northern British Columbia. There is an abundance of wild and cultivated foods, fields, forests, chickens, pets, and the neighbours bees to enjoy. There are some apple trees and raspberries but mostly the 3 acre garden supplies mixed veggies to the local farmers markets and some restaurants.  In recent years has been focusing on cut flowers – both by the stem to Northern florists, and to make our own unique bouquets for sale locally. There are lots of visitors to the farm, from employees, to WWOOFers, to community members, to friends and neighbours stopping by.  Bottom line – its a great place to spend time!!!  We are looking for 2 employees in 2020.  One for just the farm with the Groundbreakers Youth on Farms program, and one who will get to experience 2 types of jobs as part of the Get Youth Working program – both with Garry and his timber frame/carpentry business and with Mark as a farm helper.  The successful applicant will get the opportunity to learn about both trades, as well as develop or practice their hands on skills.  A great and unique experience.  We look forward to your application.

High Slope Acres supplies is not certified organic but does not use any synthetic chemicals of any kind.   Instead, we rely on hard work, WWOOFers, compost, crop rotation, quality seeds, (and luck) and a great community to produce great produce.
