HELP US GROW NEW FARMERS THIS GIVING SEASON

This giving season, we need your help to grow the next generation of farmers in Canada.

Canada’s farming population has reached a historic low, with only 1.3% of Canadians living and working on farms as of 2021. It is critical that we train and support the next generation of farmers to regenerate the land and feed our communities.

Since 2012, we have been working hard to strengthen the capacity of new farmers by delivering accessible farmer-to-farmer programs including knowledge-sharing events, land access support, business development, and on-farm apprenticeship training.

Your donations have helped us to support farmers like Greet Gill of the Kelowna Fruit Stand in British Columbia.

“Farming has always been a part of my life and my passion. The biggest challenge for young or new farmers is accessing land – unless you’re door-knocking or happen to know someone, accessing land is nearly impossible.

Everyone from Young Agrarians and the B.C. Land Matching Program that I’ve met have been so wonderful and eager to help, and have made the process of working with landholders so smooth. Without the B.C. Land Matching Program, I would still be searching for farmland, would just be dreaming of farming, and I wouldn’t have cows!”

We are so thankful to have farmers like Greet in our network, and to be able to witness the hard work they are doing to feed our communities.

Help us continue to support farmers like Greet – make a donation to Young Agrarians today!

Every donation helps to ensure our programs continue to reach farmers during critical periods of their farming journey.

Thank you for being a part of our growing community, and for supporting the important work that farmers are doing to build resilient food systems in Canada.

With gratitude,

The YA Team
