Want to be a farm educator and tour guide? This farm job at Headwaters Farm near Cobourg, ON offers opportunities to educate the public, and  help out in a permaculture garden.


Mixed organic (not certified) with 1.5 acres market garden, permaculture garden, laying hens, meat chickens, goats and bees. We have 120 acres with 70 planted in vegetable, hay, oats, barley, malting barley and cover crop. We are in the rolling hills of Northumberland County, high above Port Hope and Cobourg with a view of Lake Ontario. We sell on farm but mostly off-farm at 2 farmer’s markets, CSA, restaurants and health food stores.

We try to be self-sustaining using ecological farming techniques to build up long-term soil health, retain water and fend off diseases and pests naturally. We believe in the permaculture foundation of “Care for the Land, Care for the People, Share the Wealth.”

This position combines event management with farming. We are looking for someone who has an education and experience with organic/ecological farming and is comfortable speaking to groups and providing instructive workshops.


  • Conducting tours
  • creating interpretive trails
  • writing instructive brochures and signage
  • beautification of roadways and public areas
  • help with permaculture garden

Headwaters Farm


Start date: Start date is anytime. End date is October 31st.
Hours: 30hrs/week
Wage: $14.00/hr


This position is funded through Agricultural Youth Green Jobs Initiative.

To be eligible, you must be: a Canadian post-secondary graduate, 30 years or younger, must not have participated in any other Youth Employment Strategy programs, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
