OUR COURSE EDUCATOR, KELLY SIDORYK!

Kelly Sidoryk ranches with her family near Lloydminster, Sask./Alta. Over 25 years ago they were introduced to Holistic Resource Management (as it was known at the time), a decision making/planning process that focusses on finances, land and people.  She completed the certification program through HRM with a focus on the people side. In addition to running their family business, she has worked with many farm families as they work on transitioning to the next generation. She also teaches Holistic Management Whole/Farm Ranch Planning courses and is a certified educator with Holistic Management International(HMI). Currently, she is past-chair of the HMI board.

WHAT IS HOLISTIC MANAGEMENT?

Holistic Management is a values-based decision making framework that integrates all aspects of planning for sustainable social, economic and environmental considerations. Each and every operation is unique and by using HM practices, farmers and ranchers can achieve improvements in their land and mitigate risk. There is no blanket solution or one-size-fits-all approach to management. This course allows you to consider your own goals and what would work best for you and help you to get to where you want to go.

DISTRICT C FARMERS INSTITUTE

British Columbia Farmers Institutes strive to serve the needs of the local agricultural community, meeting monthly to identify and address issues of interest and concern to local farms, farmers, and agricultural stakeholders. Members also sit on committees in the wider community, advocating for farmers’ interests at community, municipal, provincial and federal levels. They offer regular workshops, farm tours, professional development opportunities, farmers markets, and social events to benefit farmers, farms, other agricultural stakeholders and the local community.

The Central Interior Farmers’ Institute District C was established to coordinate the activities of Farmers’ Institutes in northwestern B.C. and held conventions and carried out public efforts for the welfare of farming institutes. Farmers’ Institutes coming under District C include:
