Farmer Podcast Club: Why don’t BC’s farmers cooperate more?
Enjoy listening to this Farmer Podcast Club episode.
In this month’s podcast club release, we are tuning into a November 2024 episode from the Farming in the British Columbia podcast, where host Jordan Marr digs into the world of co-operatives with Emi Do, former Co-operatives Coordinator at Young Agrarians.
From the show notes: “As an urban farmer in Vancouver in the 2010s, Emi co-founded a marketing co-operative with her colleagues to streamline her produce sales. Intrigued by the problem-solving potential of co-operative business structures, she went on to obtain her Master’s degree—and then her PhD—studying farming co-operatives in Japan. Emi discusses growing produce in Vancouver backyards, her studies of Japan’s food system, and why co-operatives are much less common in BC’s food system.”
If you’re co-operative curious, you won’t want to miss this episode!
